Bonhams to sell works by Paddy Bedford

Sydney, 28 September 2011

The auction house Bonhams just announced the sale of selected works from the Estate of Paddy Bedford. The 26 works selected will be offered by Bonhams in Sydney, on 21 November.

Bedford, who died in 2007, is one of the most celebrated and successful Aboriginal artists of the last decade. His works are represented in all major Australian institutions, as well as in Vienna, Utrecht and Switzerland. He is currently the only Indigenous Australian artist to have a catalogue raisonné.

In this sale, Bonhams will present 25 original works of the artist, which will be previewed in London (22 — 25 October), New York (4 – 7 November), Melbourne (11 – 13 November) and Sydney (18 — 20 November). The combined low estimate of the sale totals $1,460,000.
