Sotheby’s appoints new head of Chinese Art: Dr. Tao Wang

Sotheby’s New York is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tao Wang as Head of the Department of Chinese Works of Art.

Born and educated in China, Dr. Wang has previously worked as senior lecturer at The School of Oriental and African Studies in London and has published on a range of subjects relating to Chinese art.

As reported by Gallerist NY, Henry Howard-Sneyd, Sotheby’s Vice Chairman, Asian Art said: “Dr. Tao Wang is a major addition to our Chinese Works of Art expertise. He comes to Sotheby’s after a long and successful career in academia which has seen him develop links to collectors in Asia and across the world. With his experience of working in China, Dr. Wang brings not only a deep knowledge of Chinese art but also an understanding of the cultural background and importance of these wonderful objects.”
