Association between National Museum of China and Musée du quai Branly

Paris, 19 April 2011

The Musée du quai Branly and The National Museum of China, that reopened its doors at the beginning of March, are organizing exhibitions of their respective collections from 19 June to 30 September 2012. The two museums have been cooperating for several years and formalized their collaboration in autumn 2010 when they signed an official agreement.

The African collections of the Musée du quai Branly will thus travel to Beijing and in exchange, the Musée du quai Branly will be hosting an exhibition of approximately one hundred pieces, mostly from the National Museum of China. This collaboration has been a priority for the French museum, as international agreements allow the museum to honour foreign countries by presenting their collections to the public.
