Christie’s auction house will organise its autumn sales of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art at Hong Kong’s Grand Hall of the Convention and Exhibition Centre on 28 November 2012. The sale will include a broad selection of ceramics and works coming from renowned collectors and private collections. there will be approximately 380 lots valued in excess of HK$400m.
Some of the lots include important artworks from the Qing and the Ming Dynasty, two dynasties that marked the most significant periods of Chinese art creation and that saw the elaboration of ceramics on an industrial scale. There will also be a group of ceramics from the J. Insley Collection, illustrating a more contemporary taste of ceramics that were collected in the beginning of the 20th century. Falangcai enameled ceramics will be on sale as well as glass works, some precious pieces that had not been seen on the market for almost a century.
Two other collections will enrich the auction, one of Fine Chinese Furniture from Private American Collections and the other one is the Important Chinese Lacquer from the Lee Family Collection, Part III. Both exhibitions will include about 50 lots and the whole furniture sale is estimated to realize in excess of HK$49m, corresponding to $6m.
