London, 18 September 2012

The sixth Tribal Perspectives will take place from 18 to 22 September. Held in the Gallery 27, Cork Street, Mayfair in London, this fair is probably the only one specialising in tribal art in the United Kingdom. Tribal Perspectives 2012 gathers art traders from Oceania, the Americas, Africa and Asia (particularly East Asia) and “non Occidental” arts. The fair shows a great diversity of top-quality works such as tribal masks, ceremonial artefacts, highly valued by collectors for their decorative and sculptural qualities, but mostly for their cultural value. All these artefacts have a particular meaning for the tribes they belonged to, and this cultural affiliation is particularly attractive to collectors. Jewelry and weapons have a great importance as well.
This event does not adress only sensible collectors and tribal art experts. It is indeed organised in order to satisfy as well the onlookers and art lovers willing to know more about tribal art. Debates and lectures will therefore be organised during four days, specialised books and publications will be presented along with the artefacts. Tribal Perspectives 2012, willing to attract visitors of all horizons, will show that the art knows no limits.
International exhibitors will be present, in precise and various fields of expertise and specialisation. For instance Chris Boylan, oceanian and aborigine art specialist, and Bryan Reeves, organizer of the event and tribal art expert.
