Christie’s New York will be organising auctions during the Asian Art Week from 11 to 14 September 2012. These auctions will display rare examples of Chinese art from China, Japan, Corea, India, and South-East Asia. The auction of Chinese ceramic works and artworks planned for 13 and 14 September will be displaying five hundred lots including pieces of jade, porcelain, ceramic, and antique and recent bronze works. The estimates are located between $5,000 and $800,000. The auctions should bring in more than $15m.
Another interesting auction: the one about contemporary and modern South Asian art which will be displaying masterpieces by recognised masters from South Asia and by established contemporary artists. Another auction, “Indian & Southeast Asian art”, will be displaying works of historic importance in Gandhara, Nepal, Tibet, and India. The Japanese and Korean art auction will display an exceptional selection of Japanese and Korean works going from medieval works to modern paintings.
The auction programme is the following one: “Japanese & Korean art” on 11 September; “South Asian modern + contemporary art” on 12 September; “Indian & Southeast Asian art” on 12 September, and “Fine Chinese ceramics and works of art” on 13 and 14 September 2012.
