Christie’s Asian Art Week will take place in New York from 20 to 23 March 2012.
The auction house will present objects of art from some of the most respected private collections of today’s art world, including the Doris Wiener Collection, the Robert H. Blumenfield Collection, and the Robert H. Ellsworth Collection.
The sale will start on 20 March with works from the Doris Wierner Collection. On 21 March, the sale will mainly feature works of contemporary art and south and south-eastern Asian art, as well as Indian, Japanese, and Korean art. The following day will see the presentation of the Auspicious Treasures for Scholars and Emperors, from the Robert H. Blumenfield collection and the Luminous Perfection : Fine Chinese Mirrors, also from the Robert H. Ellsworth collection. Lastly, the sale will end on 23 March with Chinese ceramics.
Most of the lots date from the 1800s and the total estimated value of all the combined collections comes to around $48 million.
