Denver, 14 November 2011

Denver Art Museum (DAM) is currently presenting two parallel exhibitions entitled “Threads of Heaven : Silken Legacy of China’s Last Dynasty” and “Xu Beihong” until 30 January 2012.

Both exhibitions focus on the final days of artistic fame, as well as the beginning of modern art in China. “Threads of Heaven: Silken Legacy of China’s Last Dynasty” displays approximately 100 different works including dragon robes (worn by the emperor), imperial seals and various accessories related to the dynasty.

The retrospective dedicated to Xu Beihong (1895-1953), features 61 masterpieces such as oil paintings, pastels, ink paintings and calligraphies. The exhibition will highlight the artist’s life and career from during his studies in Europe to his personality portraits after returning to China.

Denver Art Museum will also organise activities for the public along with performances of Chinese culture.
