Paris, 30 April 2012
Frédéric Sallet has been named as general director of the Guimet museum. He will assume the role on May 2 2012.
The French minister for culture, Frédéric Mitterrand, has seen his team dwindle over the past few weeks: two weeks ago, the head of his team, Elodie Perthuisot, left to take up a post at Fnac (France’s leading music store group). Today, it is Sallet, who replaced Pethuisot as head of Mitterand’s team, who has been named as the head of the Guimet national museum of asian art.
Frédéric Sallet is to replace Marie-Claude Vitroux, the former director of decorative arts.
